This thesis aims to explore the link between child self-regulation and affectionate touch in the preschool age group. The first chapter will introduce the concept of self-regulation and the role that the environment plays in children's developmental processes. Specifically, it will examine the mechanisms that guide self-regulation, such as Heart Rate Variability and the crucial role of caregivers. The second chapter will explore the biological mechanisms of affectionate touch and its role in promoting human connection and emotional regulation. Finally, the third chapter will focus on our research, which aims to assess the impact of affectionate touch on children's self-regulation capacity. Through a study paradigm involving the recording of behavioral and physiological responses under conditions of emotional activation, we will investigate the effect of affectionate touch on heart rate variability (RMSSD index) during exposure to negative emotional stimuli, assessing whether and how affectionate touch can promote physiological regulation in preschool-age children.

Abstract
Through a study paradigm involving the recording of behavioral and physiological responses under conditions of emotional activation, we will investigate the effect of affectionate touch on heart rate variability (RMSSD index) during exposure to negative emotional stimuli, assessing whether and how affectionate touch can promote physiological regulation in preschool-age children.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
