This thesis proposes to investigate the relationship between Developmental Coordination Disorder and mental health problems such as psychosocial difficulties or internalizing disorders. Starting from a brief reflection on the theory concerning motor development and on how the constraints of the environment can influence it, we move on to defining the Coordination Disorder and its characteristics. Next, the model called the Environmental Stress Hypothesis is described, on which current research is based which aims to prove the correlation between the disorder and psychological difficulties. The thesis concludes with an excursus of the studies found in the literature (referring to developmental age) and offers ideas for future studies.

Abstract
This thesis proposes to investigate the relationship between Developmental Coordination Disorder and mental health problems such as psychosocial difficulties or internalizing disorders. Starting from a brief reflection on the theory concerning motor development and on how the constraints of the environment can influence it, we move on to defining the Coordination Disorder and its characteristics. Next, the model called the Environmental Stress Hypothesis is described, on which current research is based which aims to prove the correlation between the disorder and psychological difficulties. The thesis concludes with an excursus of the studies found in the literature (referring to developmental age) and offers ideas for future studies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
