The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects cover crops in vineyards and their management and mechanisation. First we will discuss cover crops, the criteria for choosing the crop and the main families, the potential benefits and drawbacks of this practice in order to recommend or advise against its use, depending on the situation present in the vineyard. Subsequently the main mechanized management operations in the field will be discussed: from sowing to crop termination, analyzing the differences and the relative strengths and weaknesses.
