Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) represents a significant mental health challenge, particularly during adolescence, a critical stage of human development. This thesis aims to analyze the psychological and biological threats that contribute to the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder in adolescents. Through an in-depth review of the scientific literature, psychological factors are examined, such as the presence of pre-existing disorders, self-esteem, coping strategies and social support. In parallel, the analysis focuses on biological factors, including genetics, neurobiological alterations, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and stress responses. The thesis highlights how the interaction between these factors can increase adolescents' vulnerability to PTSD, underlining the importance of an integrated approach for assessment and intervention. Finally, implications for clinical practice are discussed, with recommendations to develop more effective and targeted prevention and treatment strategies for this vulnerable age group.
