The thesis addresses the issue of prematurity, highlighting the early separation of the newborn from the mother and the family. This situation creates a condition of neonatal vulnerability and disorientation for the family. Recent scientific research emphasizes the crucial role that parents can play in the care and well-being of their preterm newborn. Due to the implementation of 24/7 access in NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care Units), families can become an integral part of the neonatal care process through active participation. In fact, practices such as Kangaroo Care and early vocal contact, which actively involve parents in caring for their preterm newborn, bring long-term benefits to the cognitive and socio-emotional development of the neonate. Moreover, these practices also help parents reduce anxiety and stress, facilitating the formation of a secure attachment with their newborn.

Abstract
Moreover, these practices also help parents reduce anxiety and stress, facilitating the formation of a secure attachment with their newborn.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
