What is repetition? This multifaceted problem has interested writers and philosophers for ages. In 1843, Gjentagelsen, by the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard (1813-55), came out, later translated in Italian with La ripetizione or La ripresa. In this brief book, which mixes freely philosophy and fiction, irony and reflection, aesthetics and theology, the metaphysical theme of repetition serves as a background and is interwoven with the three stories told in the novel, creating a kaleidoscopic work, barely known to the general public, which will surely influenced the German literary universe of the first 20th century. Franz Kafka (1883-1924), for instance, after having drawn close to Kierkegaard, reading his diaries in 1913 and having recognized himself in the choice of refusing marriage in favour of a life of writing, in 1917-18 reads exactly La ripetizione, together with other two works which were published in the same year, Timore e tremore and Aut-aut, agreeing with the aesthetic speculation of the Danish thinker and developing a critique of his theological thought instead. There are several traces of the Kierkegardian concept of repetition in some of Kafka’s last fragments written between 1917 and 1924, such as La verità su Sancho Panza, some notes related to Don Chisciotte and some Aforismi di Zürau: the aim of this thesis is to highlight them as well as to provide some critical interpretation.

Abstract
There are several traces of the Kierkegardian concept of repetition in some of Kafka’s last fragments written between 1917 and 1924, such as La verità su Sancho Panza, some notes related to Don Chisciotte and some Aforismi di Zürau: the aim of this thesis is to highlight them as well as to provide some critical interpretation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
