L'elettrodinamica classica delle p-brane

The electrodynamics of p-branes is presented in the first part of the thesis, the basic objects, like current, fields and action, are introduced here and are used to construct a generalised version of the fundamental equations of electrodynamics. The second part of the thesis discusses a method for the renormalisation of the stress-energy tensor of the electromagnetic field in the context of p-branes and some examples are given.

Nella prima parte della tesi si presenta l’elettrodinamica delle p-brane, si introducono gli oggetti principali della teoria come la corrente, i campi e l’azione. Infine si generalizzano le equazioni fondamentali dell’elettrodinamica al caso delle p-brane. Nella seconda parte della tesi si discute un metodo di rinormalizzazione del tensore energia-impulso del campo elettromagnetico di una p-brana e si forniscono alcuni esempi.
