The introduction of exotic insect pests in Italy is an increasing problem, especially as a result of globalisation, increased international trade and climate change. Several exotic insect species have adapted rapidly to new environments, which cause significant damage to food store products and agricultural ecosystems. These include Drosophila suzukii, a species native to Asia, which infests small fruits as well as peaches and apricots. In addition to causing damage to field crops, it is also a problem in fruit orchards, where products such as grapes are stored. There are species not yet present in our territory that are causing severe problems in their countries of origin that represent a possible risk to our country. These include the khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium), which causes damage to wheat grain and contaminates the food substrate with fur and exuviae, and Prostephanus truncatus, which mainly attacks crops such as maize and rice. This study, therefore, is focused on investigating those species that are not yet present in our territory, but which could cause serious damage to food store products in the absence of appropriate preventive measures.

Abstract
This study, therefore, is focused on investigating those species that are not yet present in our territory, but which could cause serious damage to food store products in the absence of appropriate preventive measures.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
