The present study aims to explore the importance of dyadic interaction, parental psychological well-being, and the competencies parents possess in fulfilling their role in the motor and socio-emotional development of the child. Additionally, it will analyze longitudinally the evolution and possible changes in the same sample over the span of a year. The first chapter defines psychomotor development, initially presenting Thelen’s dynamic systems perspective (1995), then continuing by exploring the factors that influence infant motor development and its key milestones, as well as its relationship with relational and cognitive aspects and possible enhancement interventions. The second chapter introduces parental functions and Belsky’s process model of the determinants of parenting (1984), then delves deeper into the foundations of interaction, including primary and secondary intersubjectivity within the parent-child dyad, and how this modulates developmental outcomes. It will also explore the influence of parental psychological distress on the child’s motor and socio-emotional development, emphasizing the construct of stress as explained by Abidin’s model (1990), and the reciprocal associations between stress, parenting styles, and the child’s temperament. Lastly, the third chapter presents the research and objectives of this study. Initially, it aims to observe whether, in the time between the first and second assessments, one year apart, there are significant changes in the motor and socio-emotional development of the children under study, and whether a relationship can be identified between these developments and parental school attendance. In a second phase, it will explore the connection between various components of parental behavior and the growth of the child’s motor and relational skills in the second assessment. Finally, it will investigate changes over time concerning the relationship between the parental role and the child's development.

Abstract
Finally, it will investigate changes over time concerning the relationship between the parental role and the child's development.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
