Psychological time doesn’t always follow physical time, which is why the speed of our lives doesn’t always match the ticking of the clocks. Our understanding of the external world is, in fact, constrained by the complexity of our internal processing mechanisms... that complexity is crucial for interacting whit the world but it also makes our cognitive system vulnerable to the influence of various modulating factors. In other words, contrary to common belief, the time we experience is a psychological construct, a mosaic resulting from the multisensory and perceptive integration of a multitude of pieces of information, processed by complex systems; subject to the influence of various distortion factors. Among the modulating factors that can change our perception of time, emotions play a predominant role. This thesis aims to evaluate the weight of emotional regulation strategies (Gross, 1998) in moderating the effect of emotions on time perception in prospective tasks. To achieve this goal, physiological and behavioral data were collected in the laboratory during several sessions (one for each participant), in a controlled setting and using audiovisual technologies for the induction of emotional stimuli (immersive virtual reality).

Abstract
To achieve this goal, physiological and behavioral data were collected in the laboratory during several sessions (one for each participant), in a controlled setting and using audiovisual technologies for the induction of emotional stimuli (immersive virtual reality).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
