This paper analyzes the functional aspects of handedness in plants using an experimental model of Pisum sativum. A total of 137 plants were grown in a controlled environment, divided into three conditions: single support on the right, single support on the left, and double support. Germination was standardized and growth monitored for two weeks. Interaction with the supports (clinging, touching, falling, and growth without interaction with the support), distinguishing between laterality (right/left) and winding direction (clockwise/counterclockwise) were recorded for each plant. The data showed that 51% of the analyzed plants did not interact with the supports, while clinging occurred in 22% of cases. In the double-supported pots, 17% of the plants showed significant interactions, with a slight preference for the left side, while with single supports, interactions were rarer, limited to 2–3% of cases. Plants in the double-support condition showed a significant preference for counterclockwise cling (11 vs. 1). At the group level, considering plants clinging in all conditions, it was observed that although there was a tendency for counterclockwise cling (20 vs. 10), it was not statistically significant.

Abstract
10), it was not statistically significant.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
