This thesis aims to explore the pedagogical thought of Saint John Bosco, highlighting its educational potential within the context of contemporary schooling. The first chapter analyzes certain critical aspects of today’s society, including the emergence of the so-called post-media society and the growing impact of digital technologies in the educational field, in order to understand how Salesian pedagogy can offer an effective and timely educational response. The second chapter is dedicated to an in-depth study of the Preventive System, the cornerstone of Don Bosco’s educational method, based on the three fundamental principles of reason, religion, and loving-kindness. Additional key concepts are examined, such as integral education, the pedagogy of joy and of celebration, elements that contribute to shaping an educational model focused on the harmonious development of the person. The third part of the thesis presents a case study conducted at the Salesian College "Astori" in Mogliano Veneto. The analysis of this Salesian school environment was carried out using the focus group methodology. The testimonies of a group of primary school teachers were collected in order to highlight how the principles of Salesian pedagogy are currently implemented in daily teaching practice. The findings confirm the continued relevance of Don Bosco’s educational thought in today’s school context, particularly with regard to the promotion of inclusive, relational, and meaningful learning environments, in which the student is placed at the center of the educational process. In this perspective, the Salesian educational message proves to be of remarkable relevance and formative value even today.
