This work investigates the cognitive and perceptual mechanisms underlying face categorization and bias formation in children aged 3 to 8 years. Starting from the Face-Space and the Other-Race Effect (ORE) models, the thesis explores how the visual system natural tendency to de-identify outgroup members forms the basis of early social biases. The research adopts a gamified experimental procedure divided into two phases: a task aimed at measuring the perceptual distance between different ethnic groups and a second task aimed at detecting the association between ethnicity and the attribution of personality traits. The aim is to demonstrate how the interaction between visual perception and categorization influences evaluation criteria towards others.
