Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent difficulties with inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. These can impair an individual's functioning in various life contexts. Although these symptoms constitute the diagnostic core of the disorder, in recent years the scientific literature has focused on the significant role of difficulties in emotional regulation, recognized as a frequent feature of the clinical picture and, therefore, associated with ADHD, with significant implications for the individual's psychological, relational, and social well-being. This bibliographical thesis aims to explore the relationship between ADHD and emotional regulation through a review of the scientific literature on the clinical characteristics of the disorder and the main educational and therapeutic interventions currently available. The first chapter provides a general overview of ADHD, with particular reference to the diagnostic criteria and main clinical manifestations. The second chapter introduces the concept of emotional regulation and analyzes the difficulties individuals with ADHD may encounter in managing their emotions. The third chapter analyzes the main educational and therapeutic interventions described in the literature to support the cognitive and emotional skills of people with ADHD. The analysis highlights the importance of understanding ADHD that encompasses not only functional, executive, and behavioral aspects, but also emotional ones, in order to promote integrated and personalized interventions capable of promoting better psychological and social adjustment. The aim is also to highlight how effective therapeutic intervention is facilitated by a network of relationships between mental health professionals, the individual, the family, caregivers, and community institutions.
