Synthetic milk comes from an idea of the Israeli start-up Remilk, born in 2019. It produces a drink very similar to cow's milk using yeasts and precision fermentation, through which proteins, caseins, are obtained, which are then combined a: vitamins, minerals, non-animal fats and non-animal sugars. In fact, this drink is free of cholesterol, lactose, hormones and antibiotics, while still maintaining the same flavor and texture, as well as the same yield in the production of dairy products. The goal of this start-up is to create a more sustainable dairy industry, eliminating the exploitation of dairy cattle and consequently also intensive farms which are among the main causes of CO2 emissions. Thanks to the approval of the Singapore Food Authority and the American FDA, Remilk can bring its products to the Israeli market, with the aim of being able to expand and interact with other companies in the sector.
