Research to date has highlighted that, in the transmission of egalitarian norms to children, the non-verbal language of key adults is an important element. In fact, children often learn by observing the nonverbal behavior of adults rather than the verbal lenguage. Based on past research, it was hypothesized that even in our study, teacher nonverbal language influenced both implicit and explicit attitudes of children between 3 and 8 years old. But which nonverbal cues most influence children's inter-ethnic behaviours? Positive or negative non verbal signals? The investigation objective of our study was precisely this, focusing in particular on the influence of nonverbal communication (positive, negative or neutral) of a teacher. This influence was evaluated on the judgments of the participating child towards other white-skinned children (of the same ethnicity as the participant), protagonists of videos, who implemented egalitarian or discriminatory behavior towards a black-skinned child (of a different ethnicity from that participant), using multiple measuring instruments: for both implicit (Child-IAT) and explicit attitudes (structured interview and distribution behavioral task). The results of the present study confirmed that the nonverbal language of the reference adults has a significant influence on the attitudes of children between 3 and 8 years old, adding evidence on the influence of explicit attitudes, but not on implicit attitudes. Compared to the difference between the negative and positive nonverbal, our study did not add evidence. It is important to continue research in this area.

Abstract
It is important to continue research in this area.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
