Food is one of the elements that contribute most to the formation of Italian culture, as idealised both in Italy and abroad. The analysis of the theatrical monologue Gola, by Mattia Torre, offers much to reflect on the relationship of “de facto” Italians (i.e. those who identify with this system of values even without necessarily being Italian citizens) with gastronomy and allows the identification and deconstruction of certain stereotypes linked to different social behaviours. The text thus becomes an opportunity to analyse, in a wider sense, the gastronomic discourse and the society - in this case Italian and, partially, European - in which it is implemented. After careful work on the text, which includes both the study of the themes dealt with and the rhetorical figures used, an attempt was made to highlight how the social processes described within it can easily be found in everyday reality: in particular in advertising and political discourse. The aim of the thesis is to show how theatre can be a mirror of society and how it can question its structures, which are full of accepted and widely spread stereotypes.
Il cibo è uno degli elementi che maggiormente contribuiscono alla formazione della cultura italiana, così come idealizzata sia in Italia che all’estero. L’analisi del monologo teatrale Gola, di Mattia Torre, offre molti spunti di riflessione sul rapporto degli italiani “di fatto” (ovvero coloro che si identificano in questo sistema di valori anche senza essere, per forza, cittadini italiani) con la gastronomia e permette l’individuazione e la decostruzione di alcuni stereotipi collegati a diversi comportamenti sociali. Il testo diventa quindi l’occasione per analizzare, in senso più ampio, il discorso gastronomico e la società – in questo caso italiana e , in parte, europea – in cui viene messo in atto. Dopo un attento lavoro sul testo, che comprende sia lo studio dei temi trattati che delle figure retoriche utilizzate, si è cercato di evidenziare come i processi sociali descritti al suo interno siano facilmente riscontrabili nella realtà di tutti i giorni: in particolare nel discorso pubblicitario e in quello politico. Obiettivo della tesi è dimostrare come il teatro possa essere uno specchio della società e come possa porre in discussione le sue strutture, colme di stereotipi accettati e largamente diffusi.
